Success on the Journey

Reading through parts of Genesis, I came across a story of Abraham's servant being asked to go find his son Isaac a wife. The servant prays and says, 'May it be that when I say to a girl, "Please let down your jar that I may have a drink" and then she says, "Drink, and I'll water your camels too" - let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac' (Gen 24:14).

Anyway, the prayer comes true, and then he says, 'When I came to the spring today, I said, "O Lord, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success to the journey on which I have come." ' (Gen 24:42)

I found myself saying that if this guy was able to pray for success on his journey, and God answered that prayer, then surely we can pray and ask God to give us success on our journeys?

Maybe success will be the growth of God's Kingdom in your city? Maybe it will be faithfulness through a tough situation, maybe it is bringing justice and peace into unjust circumstances? God help us be successful on the journeys we are on...
